CCR: Music Video

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Since R&B is one of the most popular genres in my generation, my conventions were adopted in the finished work. My own taste of music was also taken into consideration for my conventions. From my research prior to the music video I watched the "Sweater Weather" Music video and took inspiration from the shots they included during the film. This led me to include shots like zoom ins, tracking shots, and establishing shots in my own music video. To provide an air of adventure, I used sets, costumes, and props in my music video. I used these components, which I derived from my earlier research, to present a complex message, giving each scene a distinct meaning through the use of costumes and props. Most importantly, a power struggle was depicted by using deliberate camera angles. The conventions used served to highlight the typical traps that many youths fall victim to in relationships, frequently navigating through poison without realizing it. The purpose of the video was to raise awareness of the possibility that people could not realize how toxic a relationship is until it ends. Significantly, the usage of a phone—a common emblem in my generation—combined with skillfully chosen camera angles to successfully capture the feelings present in each scenario.

How does your product engage with audiences and how could it be distributed as a real media text?

My music video grasps the attention of different audiences as it creates an experience many in society can relate towards. Putting the audience in the perspective of a toxic teenage relationship and the hardships they go through. I want to create a moving story that traces the path of lovers who become adversaries in a way that strikes a deep emotional chord with teenagers through visually striking graphics. The soulful background that stays in the audience's thoughts long after the video ends is provided by Frank Ocean's ethereal voice. By using a warm and approachable style, I hope to not only involve but also engage the audience, creating a deep connection that will turn watching into a memorable musical roller coaster.I know that this musical story needs a younger audience, therefore I plan to publish it on sites where youth culture is strong, like TikTok and Instagram. The video is positioned for possible vitality among the target demographic through the smart combination of visually engaging material and a well-crafted promotional approach. The film, in essence, not only shares a relatable story but also makes use of social media to generate buzz. This makes the video extremely shareable and likely to connect with the youthful audience's emotions and experiences, which increases the likelihood that it will go viral.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

My producing abilities have come a long way since the project started. My creativity felt limited before, but that first brainstorming session opened it up. It was difficult but rewarding to work with my group to develop the idea for my song. After giving this project some thought, I'm sure that I've improved my ideation abilities, and I think I could handle projects like this more quickly in the future. For me, incorporating research was a fresh approach that ultimately shaped the basis and perspective for the optimal outcome. My strategy has changed as a result of this insight, which emphasizes the value of earlier research as a tool as well as a way to give a project life. I plan to apply this lesson moving ahead. Another useful tool in my creative toolbox that was introduced to me was storyboarding. It gave me a methodical structure for filmmaking, something I hadn't used before. Seeing as how storyboarding may expedite the filmmaking process, I now hope to include it into my next projects. Making blogs and putting everything together piece by piece was a life-changing experience. Instead of trying to fit everything into one day, this methodical approach allowed for a more structured workflow. I've improved my producing abilities and gained insightful knowledge about efficient time management as a result of these encounters. This project has, all things considered, been a master class in the development of creative and organizational skills. I now know how important planning, research, and organized workflows are—all of which will definitely help me succeed in my future production-related pursuits.

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online - in this project?

Technology integration was essential to the project's blogging and filmmaking processes. When it comes to blogging, I prefer the portability of an iPad over a computer. Although I can blog from a variety of devices, I prefer the portability of my iPad and phone, which allow me to work from almost anywhere. Compared to a larger computer, these gadgets are lighter and more portable, which is why I always choose them, especially when I'm on the go. My group and I agreed to utilize our phones for filming. The phones' greater video quality over existing cameras, lightweight construction, and user-friendly design ultimately led to the decision. This decision was made in order to get beyond the constraints of the supplied cameras and to make it easier to download footage to the editing software, which is easier to do with phones than it is with a memory card from a conventional camera. In relation to editing software, we used CapCut. Its easy-to-use interface, which made organizing and editing our movies more straightforward, played a role in our decision. The choice was made because of CapCut's ease of use, particularly in contrast to more sophisticated applications like Adobe Photoshop. Our decision was further reinforced by the ease of access to tutorial resources on websites like YouTube, which promised a quicker learning curve and effective video creation. In conclusion, a streamlined and effective workflow was achieved in our project by carefully integrating gadgets like the iPad and phones for blogging and by choosing user-friendly editing tools like CapCut.
