CCR: Music Video

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Since R&B is one of the most popular genres in my generation, my conventions were adopted in the finished work. My own taste of music was also taken into consideration for my conventions. From my research prior to the music video I watched the "Sweater Weather" Music video and took inspiration from the shots they included during the film. This led me to include shots like zoom ins, tracking shots, and establishing shots in my own music video. To provide an air of adventure, I used sets, costumes, and props in my music video. I used these components, which I derived from my earlier research, to present a complex message, giving each scene a distinct meaning through the use of costumes and props. Most importantly, a power struggle was depicted by using deliberate camera angles. The conventions used served to highlight the typical traps that many youths fall victim to in rel...

Production Blog: Final Touches

Hey Michi nation, welcome back to your favorite blog! My group and I have been working on finishing the editing process with our music video. While reviewing our music video I realized our song had one curse word in it and we forgot to put the clean version off the song. So Owen proceeded to fix this by searching up the clean version of "Ivy" on youtube and repeating the same process as last time. Which was screen recording the audio from YouTube and then using a feature on CapCut which extracts the audio from the screen recording. We also solved our other problem of being able to find a free copyright video for one our scenes. Since we were unable to film our own version for the scene we resulted to a free stock video. We picked one that was the closet to what we needed and settled for that. We weren't going to pay the outrageous prices vendors were selling these videos for. These two issues we had were minor but could have affected our final outcome and grade severely. ...

Production Blog: Putting Our video Together

Hey Michi nation, welcome back to your favorite blog! Today my group and I are starting to edit our clips together. Owen is the one in charge of the editing as he is the one best at editing. Along the way Owen has taught Rose and I a few editing skills for our future projects. It started off by us double checking making sure we had all our scenes in order to create our music video. Proceeding to organize the clips to make sure they were in order to tell our story. We were unsure what program we would be using, CapCut is a great option because its reliable and easy to use. So, as a group we decided we should just stick with what we know and use CapCut. Owen then began cutting all the scenes creating cohesive storyline, producing a successful visual flow. He continued playing around with the the clips and the timing multiple times to see what looked the best and made a unified music video. This helped me learn more on how to edit different clips on CapCut and using the different features...

Production Blog: The Scenes are Finished!

Image
Hey Michi nation, welcome back to your favorite blog! Great news, my group and I finished producing our scenes. Thats one important thing off our checklist, which eliminates some stress of our shoulders. We went back to the beach and filmed our remaining 6 scenes. Owen and I remained the actors and Rose continued to film. During our music video I ended up wearing a black dress instead of a white beach dress. Owen wore a white shirt and some light green beach shorts. For our shoes he wore crocs while I wore tan sandals. Even though Rose was behind the camera she also wore a black dress and tan sandals. It took us about 2 hours to film the rest of our scenes, similar to last time. This time around we were better at filming in my opinion. Which is showing our improvement as the project comes along. I personally liked how our scenes came out and there wasn't one I would change. There was one scene that was honestly embarrassing for me to act out. It was me "crying" as Owen w...

Production Blog: The start of Our Production

Image
Hey Michi nation, welcome back to your favorite blog! Great news we began our filming process on Monday as we planned. We had an early release day and I drove my group to the beach. Our location changed from Las Olas to Lauderdale by The Sea. Our reasoning was it was more convenient and closer to all of us. We filmed about half of our music video, which was about 6 scenes. We got to the beach at about 3 o'clock, we estimated filming till 5:30 pm. We started off in order by doing our first scene, which was me sleeping at the beach. This was our first time filming so it took my group a couple of times to get it right. Rose was recording on Owen's iPhone 15 in cinematic mode through all the scenes we filmed that day. Owen and I were the ones acting out the scenes in the video. After finally getting our first scene done we decided to do most of the scenes that involved the beach and then we would move locations. While filming in a public place we had to often times wait for others ...

Production blog: Narrowing Down Our Plans

Image
Hey Michi nation, welcome back to your favorite blog! My group and I are still trying to figure out our exact recording schedule for the upcoming week. Monday after school we will mostly likely be filming, however we are still unsure about Tuesday. Rose and Owen can film Tuesday but I might have plans that day so i'm unsure if I will be to attend. For one of the scenes in our music video there will be an insert of two kids playing around. This goes with the lyrics "we'll never be those kids again", meaning we will need a boy and a girl to be playing around at the beach in order to obtain this scene. Rose found two kids we can use for this scene. Being her step sister and her best friends brother. Due to certain circumstances we would only be able to film this scene on Tuesday since both the kids wouldn't have school just like us. So, my group decided that if I couldn't attend for certain reasons they would still go film that scene. This is because I wouldn...
